Take care of the nails, your presentation card!

Most women love having beautiful nails. Even those who do not paint them, like to keep them well-kept, smooth and elegant. Would not it be nice to know how to keep your nails always well-treated, healthy and well-painted?

Nails are derived from the skin, its composition is mostly keratin, the same substance that forms the hair. As the nail grows from the matrix to the finger (from within the cuticle to the visible part) it hardens with the contact with the air. To minimize the day-to-day wear on the nails it is important to have some notions in mind.

Nails may naturally flake with increasing age; however, the most common are the signs of wear caused by the daily handling of chemicals such as cleaning detergents and also mycoses and other infectious diseases caused by microorganisms that begin in the nail pulp and advance to the matrix, "eating" the deeper layer of the nail and where it deteriorates markedly and may even lead to the loss of that nail. The lack of hydration also leads to the listed and dull appearance of the nail, such as malnourished hair that ends up opening at the tips.

To maintain an impeccable appearance of nails it is necessary to moisturize them with a cream suitable for the nutrition of the nails and to space as much as possible the application of any nail polish, even the traditional hardener. If the hardener contains formaldehyde, it can be perfectly applied as it will produce the desired result, however it is advisable to let the nails "breathe" as much as possible, applying at intervals of two to three days.

Do not file the top of the nail, even if it has some grooves. There are specific products to nourish the nails and soften these grooves, making them more beautiful. In addition, you should not remove the varnish with acetone, rather the opposite. You should opt for acetone-free removers. Acetone removes a protective layer from the nail which is a bit greasy, in some cases even very greasy, and without it the nail dries, becomes dull and more brittle.

You should not remove the cuticles. You can push them back slightly after leaving your hand in warm water for a few minutes. It is highly harmful for the body to cut the cuticle, since the cuticle protects the formation of the nail, its matrix, and acts as a barrier against the entry of microorganisms. The hands are permanently in contact with pathogens, so it is essential to understand the risk involved in cutting or lacerating cuticles.

The cutting of the nail, whether straight or oval, should be done gently with a file or with a specific scissors to cut nails. You should avoid nail clippers because sometimes their characteristic shape allows accidentally cutting the corners deep inside, which can lead to infections and increased discomfort. The most recommended cut is the square, because it reduces the chance of jamming the nail corners, yet in many hands this cut is not well, so you can feel at ease to cut as you wish, paying attention to the corners. On the feet, a straight square cut is strongly recommended to ensure that none of the corners are cut and that the nail will not jam.

Smoking, consuming drugs or poorly eating fruit and proteins can lead to yellowing of the nails, loss of firmness and the appearance of white lines in the form of half-moons, associated with lack of calcium in the body. Have a healthy lifestyle!
