History

The history of the Hugo Boss brand begins in 1924 in a small town in Metzingen, located in the mountains in southern Germany, the tailor Hugo Ferdinand Boss, had a small clothing store that sold uniforms, overalls, clothing for workers and military uniforms. The modest company quickly grew but in 1929 the company had to reduce its workforce due to the economic crisis. But even so, Hugo didn't give up and started working with 6 sewing machines and his employees accepted a reduction in wages to keep what was left of the company. Despite these drastic measures, in 1930 the company stopped its activities due to the economic instability that was experienced in the country during the post-war period. But to ensure his livelihood Hugo revived the business in 1931, when he joined the Nazi party. It was then that in 933, and due to the growing popularity of Adolf Hitler, he began making military uniforms. From then on, the company grew and it was in 1984 that they started with the licensing of fragrances, which became a huge step in the global development of the brand. |
